Alsager u3a’s walking netball group has played its first match since the death of coach Pat Arnott.
Mrs Arnott died of pancreatic cancer in 2023. Following her death, tributes came from far and wide for the founder of Alsager Netball Club.
The u3a walking netball club recently staged a friendly match against Middlewich WI’s walking netball team.
Lesley Fox, one of the organisers from Alsager u3a, said: “Pat dedicated her life to netball and we’re sure she would be proud that the club continues today.” A match of four quarters was played, with Alsager clinching a 6-5 win.
Ms Fox added: “All the players thoroughly enjoyed it, and both teams thanked Ruth Burgess for excellent umpiring.”
The u3a walking netball group plays at Alsager Leisure Centre on Tuesdays from 4.30pm to 5.30pm and welcomes players of all abilities.
Ms Fox said: “It is all about making new friends and having fun, while enjoying a bit of exercise.”
