Men arrested after car ‘alarms’ market shoppers

Three people were arrested following an incident in Congleton town centre this afternoon (Saturday).

It occurred shortly after 4pm and involved a silver Volkswagen Golf, which turned down the pedestrianised area of Bridge Street, where the makers’ market was taking place, causing “alarm” to shoppers and residents, said police.

No-one was hurt during the incident but there are reports the car hit a Gregg’s A-board

The car was found abandoned a short time later.

Three men have been arrested and are in custody.
