A former patient is putting the finishing touches to her latest fund-raiser in aid of east Cheshire’s breast cancer service.
The Splash of Pink Breast Cancer Ball “Does Vegas” will take place at Shrigley Hall Hotel and Spa on Saturday, 21st September.
Congleton mum-of-two Gena Moors’ fundraising efforts started in 2023 with the creation of Splash of Pink, established as a thank-you for the care she received following a breast cancer diagnosis at the Macclesfield-based unit in 2020.
Following the success of her first Splash of Pink Breast Cancer Ball last year, when more than £24,000 was raised, next month’s event is taking on the theme of Las Vegas – and she is keen to reach her total goal of £50,000.
Just like Vegas there’ll be showgirls, a roulette wheel and slot machines.
Mrs Moors said: “I am extremely passionate about raising these funds and giving something back to East Cheshire NHS Charity as it’s where my own breast cancer journey took place.
“I’m hoping to raise over £50,000 to buy that piece of lifesaving equipment for the breast cancer unit and be able show everyone who has supported and donated what their money has gone towards.”
Mrs Moors recently visited the breast screening unit to speak to staff and hear more about how her fundraising will be used.
There are still limited tickets available for September’s ball, which will include a drinks reception, three-course dinner, fun money casino, raffle, silent auction and disco until 1am.
Tickets are £80 with tables of 12 available, and can be bought by anyone wishing to buy one can contact bought by emailing splashofpink@outlook.com.
