GILBY (Malcolm). Malcolm, aged 90, passed away at Sunderland Royal Hospital on Thursday, 2nd January with his loving family by his side. Born in Silksworth, Sunderland, he moved to Staffordshire to start his career then moved to Congleton. He worked at English Electric, Kidsgrove, and was a regular player in Rode Hall Silver Band. He moved north in 1973 to Houghton Le Spring, County Durham. He was a devoted husband, reunited at last with his beloved wife Gladys. Malcolm was a truly special dad to his four children and their partners Paul and Fran, Ian and Elise, Jackie and Steve and Alison and he will be deeply missed from their lives. He was a loving brother to Margaret, Valerie and the late Joyce, and a treasured grandfather to Lauren, Alice and Harry. WHEELHOUSE (Derek). Passed away peacefully on 10th January 2025, Derek, aged 96, of Biddulph. The devoted husband of the late Peggy; treasured dad of Rosalind, and an adored Grampy of Sophie. Derek will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. Derek was one of the original founders of Biddulph History Society and was given the title of honorary president. He was also highly involved in Biddulph Grange before the National Trust took over. He continued as a volunteer/steward and by the time he retired he had achieved his 30-year volunteer badge.
