Despite “tough trading conditions”, Swansway Group has donated £2,980 to Congleton-based Circus Starr.
The money was raised through the family-owned firm’s sale of Motability vehicles across its 17 Motability dealerships.
The donation will go towards tickets to a Circus Starr show for families with disabled, disadvantaged and vulnerable children. The tickets are sent to children and their families through a network of hospices, schools, hospitals, regional branches of national charities and support groups; families can also apply direct to Circus Starr.
Without donations like this, some families may not get to enjoy a fun-filled day out together.
Sarah Hall, communications and engagement manager at Circus Starr, commented: “The global pandemic really hit us hard, and we missed out on a whole year of putting smiles on the faces of so many children and their families.
“We have just completed our first tour since March 2020 and we couldn’t be happier. This latest donation from Swansway Group will help us to continue bringing smiles to faces up and down the country next year and we really can’t wait.”
David Smyth, Swansway group director, said: “The last few months have been tough in the motor trade. Stock supply issues have been affecting our ability to fulfil new car orders, particularly for those on the Motability Scheme. Nonetheless, we’re extremely pleased to be able to support Circus Starr with donations like this one and long may it continue.”
Circus Starr has just wrapped up its summer tour and will be returning in January, with the first show in Cambridge.
The Motability Scheme is open to anyone in receipt of higher rate mobility allowance (such as the enhanced rate of the mobility component of personal independence payment or the higher rate mobility component of disability living allowance).
Swansway Group has 23 dealerships and one accident repair centre, from Birmingham in the Midlands to Carlisle in the North. It represents Volkswagen, Audi, Land Rover, Jaguar, Seat, Cupra, Peugeot, Honda and Volkswagen commercial vehicles, plus operates six Motor Match non-franchise locations.
