Well Pharmacy, the UK’s largest independent pharmacy chain, has announced that its branches in Congleton and Sandbach have been selected by NHS England to administer covid-19 booster vaccines.

The news came after research by Well Pharmacy suggested that 90% of people aged 50 and over intended to have the covid-19 booster vaccine when offered it.

Eligible patients will be offered a free NHS flu jab at the same time.

The Congleton branch is on Park Lane; Sandbach’s is on The Common.

Government guidelines have outlined that booster jabs will initially be offered to people aged 50 and over, health and social care workers and to the most vulnerable. The boosters will be offered around six months after the second covid jab was administered.

The NHS will be in contact with patients to invite them for the covid-19 booster vaccine when they are due for it. People interested in having the NHS flu jab at the same time will be offered it as part of their booster jab appointment.

Ifti Khan, pharmacy superintendent for Well Pharmacy, said: “Every vaccination is a life protected or saved. Having both vaccinations will give you and your loved ones the best protection this winter from getting seriously ill from covid or flu.

“It is safe to have both vaccinations at the same time and we will be offering patients who have an appointment for the covid-19 booster jab the NHS flu jab.”
