Air ambulance called to town centre

An air ambulance landed outside the police station in Congleton as part of the emergency response after a pedestrian was injured in the town centre.
Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following the incident, which happened on Mill Street, near to Ableworld at around 11.30am on Wednesday.
The 78-year-old man was treated at the scene by paramedics after being involved in a collision with a red
Kia Ceed.
He was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital where his condition was later described as critical but stable.
The driver of the car was uninjured and no arrests have been made.
PC Chris Luke, of Cheshire Police roads and crime unit, said: “Enquiries in relation to this collision are ongoing and we’re doing all we can to establish exactly what took place.
“As part of our investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid our enquiries.
