Some 96 young people were scanned during a heart screening day in Biddulph and four of them were referred for further checks.
Last Saturday’s screening day came in the 10th year since Biddulph teenager Jordan Burndred died at the age of 17 having suffered a cardiac arrest after jumping into a swimming pool while on holiday in Turkey.
It was later found that Jordan had had an undetected heart defect.
Mum Nicola has since raised more than £92,000 to pay for the screening days that are organised by the CRY charity (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
Saturday’s, at Biddulph Youth and Community Zone, was the 12th in memory of Jordan.
Mrs Burndred said there were a few “no-shows” for the appointment-only screening day, which she said was “disappointing” because each appointment slot had to be paid for.
The price of a screening day is £6,500 for 100 people aged from 14-35.
Although she has not done any fundraising since covid, Mrs Burndred said she was appealing for funds to continue to support the screening days. One has already been pencilled in for February next year.
