BROWN (Bert). Peacefully passed away at Douglas Macmillan Hospice on 6th January 2025, Bert, aged 84 years, of Biddulph and formerly Westlands, Newcastle-under-Lyme. A devoted husband to Ann; dearly loved dad of Amanda, Tim, Robert and Joanne; much-loved father-in-law to Len and Andy, and a dear gramps to Libby, Alyssa, Lindsey and Dan. Bert will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving family and many friends. The funeral will take place on Friday, 7th February. There will a private committal service at Carmountside Crematorium followed by a celebration of Bert’s life at St Lawrence’s Church, Biddulph, at 11.30am. Anyone wishing to attend, kindly meet at the church. Traditional attire not required. Bert’s favourite colour was blue. CARTER (Joan Vera, née Scott). Peacefully passed on 6th January 2025, with her loving family by her side, Joan, aged 83 years, of Biddulph. She was the dearly loved mum of Julie and Andrew; dear mother-in-law of Mark and Tracy; much-loved Nana of Georgina, Emilia, Connor and Callum; and a very special sister of Michael and Susan. Joan will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by her dear family and friends. The funeral service is to take place on Wednesday, 5th February at Carmountside Crematorium at 2pm. CRAIK (Sydney “Syd”). Suddenly on 1st January 2025, Sydney, “Syd”, aged 81 years, of Congleton. The dearly loved and devoted husband of Doreen; loving dad of Kelvin and the late Martin; cherished granddad of Amber, and treasured great-granddad of Orlagh. The cortege is to leave Alan Finneron Funeral Directors, 32, West Street, Congleton, at 10.45am for a service at St Peter’s Church, Congleton, at 11am prior to interment at Congleton Town Cemetery. DEAN (Kenneth, “Ken”). Ken passed away peacefully on Tuesday, 31st December 2024 at Macclesfield District General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, aged 89. He was the cherished cousin of the late Dennis and a friend to many. Ken will be lovingly remembered for his warm personality and strength of character, and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. The funeral will be held at Trinity Methodist Church, Congleton, at noon on Tuesday, 11th February followed by the committal at Macclesfield Crematorium. GIBSON (Patricia Hall, “Pat”). Passed away peacefully on Sunday, 19th January 2025 in the loving care of the staff at Rowan Court Care Home, Silverdale, Pat aged 92 years, formerly of Alsager. Pat was the devoted and much-loved only child of John and Dorothy, a loving and treasured friend, Godmother and “auntie”, and will be fondly remembered by them all. Pat worked as a school kitchen manager and volunteered at Alsager WRVS for over 20 years. Pat’s funeral service will be held at Christ Church, Church Road, Alsager, on Tuesday, 4th February at 11am, followed by interment in the churchyard. MORETON (Keith). Keith passed away quietly on Saturday, 11th January 2025, at East Cheshire Hospice, surrounded by his loving family, aged 82. THOMPSON (Philip Raymond, “Phil”). Phil passed away suddenly on Sunday, 12th January 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family, aged 69. Phil was a loving husband of Kathryn, with whom he shared over 40 years with and a proud dad to Loren and Emma. Phil will be fondly remembered for his sharp wit, his love of the outdoors and his passionate opinions. A true enthusiast of shooting, metal detecting, and exploring woodlands, he found joy in nature and the quiet companionship of his dog. Known for his generosity, Phil was always willing to lend a hand or share what he had. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
