Pub chain Hungry Horse is to sponsor one of the squads at Congleton Town Juniors Football Club.
The brand is supporting the U12s Whites team through their next season. The team and coaches have been kitted out with branded home and training kits, training tracksuits and winter coats.
The news is part of chain owner Greene King’s efforts to back grassroots sports. Its Proud To Pitch In fund has already helped more than 250 clubs across the UK and the business has now reached its £1 million goal for funding.
The nearest Hungry Horse is the Chatterley Whitfield in Stoke-on-Trent (two roundabouts straight on from the Chell roundabout coming from Biddulph) and Jodie Roper, general manager, said: “We’re proud to be able to support the Congleton Town Juniors with team sponsorship, as we know how much this means to the club. The team regularly comes into the pub and we wish them the best of luck for the season!”
A spokesperson for Congleton Football Club said: “The club greatly appreciates the support it has received from Greene King and in particular the Hungry Horse Brand.
“Our aim at Congleton Town Football Club is to make grassroots football accessible to as many children in our local community as possible. The support we receive from all our sponsors really helps us to do this by keeping registration costs as low as possible.
“The new kits and training gear look great and all the kids looked fantastic in their new kits for the first game of the season!”
