On bank holiday Monday, B2 Coaching presented a coaching, music and sport festival fundraising event at Sandbach School.
It was organised by Michael Chambers and Ben Gifford with help from company coaches, friends and staff who arranged three different competitions in rugby, football and cricket plus live music from the Drum and Bass duo and Ed Sheeran impersonator Tom Morrison, who has been popular at the local rock and pop festival put on each year at the rugby club by Andy Milner (writes Stewart Green).
Mr Milner was also in charge of catering with his mobile Café Symphony van, which donated any profits made on the day to the appeal.
A bouncy castle company brought in at the last minute after the original amusement firm couldn’t attend also made a donation to the appeal.
There were traditional ice-creams and a cake stall as well as Bach 95 lager, wines and soft drinks, and the Melody Corporation donated a generator free of charge to power the makeshift stage for the music performers.
The fundraising event was part of the school’s plan to send the boys’ rugby team on a tour of South Africa in 2025.
Town mayor Coun Ann Nevitt presented trophies, including one for sportsman of the day Johnny Gardner.
The event ended with a dads v lads cricket match.
