Sandbach snowboarder Mia Brookes won a silver medal at the Freestyle Snowboard Slopestyle World Cup in Cardrona this week – an event that marked the start of the qualification period for the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in 2026.
Qualifying round results were used for final placements in Cardrona as conditions were deemed too hazardous to complete final runs.
Brookes, (17), is the reigning slopestyle world champion and her score of 71.65 was enough to secure her second World Cup podium.
Japan’s Kokomo Murase won the event, with United States’ Rebecca Flynn taking bronze.
Txema Mazet-Brown, (18), finished 12th on her debut for the GB Snowsport team, with team-mate Maisie Hill placing 27th.
