More than £200,000 will be invested to “transform” a popular Congleton pub – if someone can be found to run it.
The Railway Inn, next to the train station on Biddulph Road, will benefit from a refurbishment that, according to Star Pubs and Bars, will “enhance the pub’s look and feel” through upgrades such as new fireplaces and television screens, as well as “significant internal redecorations”.
New timber flooring and a gas stove will form part of the redesign, while a wine display would be removed so that customers can see directly into the kitchen.
Outside, there are plans for a redesigned beer garden at the back and exterior lighting and signage would be updated to complement the interior.
A spokesperson for Star Pubs and Bars said: “Subject to recruiting a new operator, we would like to undertake a major refurbishment to transform The Railway into a great quality community local pub offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere with excellent food and drinks at affordable prices.”
