Thursday, 18th November saw the official opening of Elworth CoE School’s new-build.
The school was fortunate to have Bishop Sam Corley and other distinguished visitors such as Chris Penn, director of education for Chester Diocese and Mark Bayley, acting director of education for Cheshire East, along with representatives from the construction company, Paul Harris and Russ Forshaw, and some of its own school governors – Barrie Pitt (chair), the Rev David Page, Eddie Lea and Julie Hopwood – along with members of the senior leadership team, Neil Garratt, headteacher; Gill Holmes, deputy head; Sarah Buckley, Senco and acting deputy, and Danielle Coyne, school business manager.
A spokesperson said: “This was a wonderful celebratory event in which our newbuild was blessed by the bishop and was dedicated to Barrie Pitt, our chair of governors, who played a key role in bringing this project to life from inception right up to its final stages and conclusion. To celebrate and recognise this significant contribution the newbuild will now be known as The Pitt Building.”
Staff and visitors met the school prefects, and were entertained by separate performances from key stage one and two children.
“It was a lovely celebration to mark the ongoing development of our fantastic school,” the spokesperson added.
