Biddulph u3a is getting ready to start up again and is looking forward to welcoming members, both returning and new, in September.
It is a local, social, friendly, low cost group providing opportunities for people who are no longer in full-time work, helping them to stay active, learn new things, share their interests, have fun and make friends.
More than 30 different interest groups run throughout the week in Biddulph. These include dance, keep fit, painting, crafts, games, sports, genealogy and complementary therapies. A full list and details are available on the website.
Some art and photography groups’ work is on display in shop windows around town and u3a members will be available at the Victoria Centre on Saturday to talk to about what they do.
They will also be at the artisan markets on the first Friday of the month and are hoping to hold an open day in the near future to highlight the range of activities available and to display examples of what members do.
The u3a base is at Lund House (formerly the GP surgery) on the corner of Well Street and Lawton Street.
There is on-site parking, and the 93 bus stops right outside the building.
Some groups also meet at the leisure centre or the library.
As well as the groups and classes, the group organises social events, such as quiz nights, coffee mornings and day trips, and has access to some national events across the UK, including the u3a summer school programme.
Anyone who would like to find out more is welcome to contact Phil Watts, membership manager: Lund House, Lawton Street, Biddulph ST8 6EX; membership@biddulphu3a.co.uk or 01782 518 158.
